"We have a serious case of The Runs!"
Est. November 2012
We are a rag tag group of people with a serious case of "The Runs". We range in ability and intensity. Some of us have just recently taken up running for sport, exercise, or just to meet other locals. Others of us are running nerds, hell bent on competing with and against each other to achieve our running goals. We invite you to join us for a run sometime or become a committed member of FSARC!
PERSONAL GOALS
Our first belief is that running bring personal health and growth! Whether you are a beginner, training for your first 5k, or looking to conquer your first marathon, we want to run alongside you as you train!

Over the years we have seen pounds lost, friendships built, and goals accomplished again and again. Our monthly celebrations seek to praise these successes among our members!
GROUP RUNS
Group runs occur 2-3 times a week. Simply show up at the location and time posted, find runners looking for a similar distance / pace / goal and enjoy the run!

Our runs typically utilize the amazing Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail systems throughout the tri-cities area. We run year around, in rain, shine, and snow!

Finally, our runs typically conveniently end at a location for social food and drink! This is a great way to get to know other runners, relax, and celebrate the work just put in!
SOCIALIZING
Over the years, our group has become fiercely serious about two things: Running and Socializing! We love getting to know other runners at races, group runs, and social events.

Besides post-run food and drinks, we also gather once a month for a celebratory pizza party.

FSARC members often sign up for races together, gather before and after and "make a weekend" of it. If you love to run and love to hangout with runners - FSARC is for you!
MISSION STATEMENT
The Freeland Saginaw Area Runners Club isn't non-profit or a for profit organization. We are a group of individuals from the Great Lakes Bay Region who enjoy the sport of running and being with others while we run. There are no fees.
A FSARC member is someone who shares the love of running whether they are training for a short race, a long race or not racing at all. They come to our scheduled runs often not just to run but to offer encouragement to other FSARC members of all abilities.
Please note that you do this at your own risk. We as a group are not responsible for your actions and will never claim to be. We also do not take donations since we are not licensed to do so but will accept affiliations with local businesses.
While we consist of runners from the Great Lakes Bay Region, most of us are from the Freeland-Saginaw area that enjoy the sport of running or walking. We have walkers who are very fast join us on occasion. Anyone and everyone, fast or slow, rabbits or turtles are welcome. Just like the postmaster, we run year around and in most weather conditions, rain or shine, cold and snow!
We meet on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday or Sunday mornings for long runs at various times and usually finish one of these runs with food or beverage.
Our slogan is "We have a serious case of the runs". Our goal as a club is try to do one of each of the following over two weeks: a long run to build endurance; a hilly run for strength; a faster run to improve speed; a social run to keep your mind engaged; and a run where you focus on form and drills. We also run local races as a group to support charities.
During March of each year we like to set a goal for all members to run 100 miles for the month. Each month from May to September we run a Magic Mile the first week of each month. There are a few races each year we like to train for such as: Fifth Third 25K in Grand Rapids, the Laufe Series of races in Frankenmuth, Bay City St. Patricks Day Race, the Crim in Flint and Run for Your Heart in Saginaw plus many others.
FSARC GUIDELINES:
1. No runner left behind: We wait for the last runner before leaving.

2. Start our run's on time: So be there early or let someone know!

3. Safety First: Run against traffic when running on the roads. Run on the right side of the rail trail to leave room for bike riders. Obey all street crossing signs and road markings as to not endanger thyself.

4. Start and End with Stretches: Start each run with dynamic stretches and end each run with static stretches.

5. Represent: When an affiliation is willing to buy us FSARC shirts, please wear at local races. When able, attend local business promotional runs such as shoe demo's etc.

6. But First, A Selfie: If you would like to be in a group photo, gather around the start of most races since we usually can't find each other after a race.
